The ProFlex® Universal Size Back Support is designed to fit most waist sizes and to remind workers of proper lifting techniques while also enhancing the body’s intra-abdominal pressure, moving the stress away from the spine for back pain relief. To choose your size, use flexible measuring tape and find the circumference around your body at your belly button. The support should fit snugly around your hips with the front of the support two-fingers width below your navel. An easy-to-use hook and loop closure keeps the belt securely fastened while in use and can be worn over or underneath clothing. Adjust the suspenders straps to fit securely on your shoulders without causing tension. Turn it into a back support belt by simply detaching the shoulder straps from the belt. ProFlex® Back Supports provide lower back support and abdominal support for lifting heavy objects. Tightening the back support belt enhances the body’s intra-abdominal pressure and moves the stress away from the spine. When the back support is on correctly, the worker will have additional support for lifting and is more likely to use proper posture. Great for airport luggage handlers, warehouse/distribution employees, material handling, construction crews, maintenance, assembly/fabrication, landscaping/grounds, and jobs that require heavy lifting. We cannot guarantee that wearing a back brace will prevent workplace injury or be a cure for lower back pain, but when used properly these supports will provide extra lumbar support, promote proper lifting techniques, and help you through a workday of bending, twisting, and schlepping. Rest assured; we got your back.

This is a back support. Not big deal, right? Well, when I first got it, I figured it would do its thing and that would be that. I opened up the package and threw it on… Or should I say that I attempted to throw it on…? Initially, I thought it was too small, as i could not get it wrapped around my “bear preparing for hibernation” mid-section. The initial struggle frustrated me and I figured I would give Ergodyne “heck” for calling it universal size instead of “one size fits most.” With a few choice swear words mumbled under my breath I tossed it on the passenger seat of my truck and prepared to make do without it. As it hit the seat, a small paper fluttered off the seat and wafted to the ground. Picking the paper up, I realized it was directions for the back support, thoughtfully provided along with it. Out of habit (I’m a guy that reads everything eventually) I read the directions and realized to my chagrin that the failure of sizing was between my ears, not with the back belt. After seeing how to properly adjust the fit of the belt I put it on — with a few humorous instances… Everything is adjustable, and relocateable, including the shoulder straps… imagine my surprise when I was stretching the straps over my shoulders and I pulled the front velcro anchor free sending the elastic strap bouncing around…Once I had the belt on though, It was very comfortable and supportive. This was especially key because my day would be spent moving concrete cylinders. As a construction materials inspector, I often have to make concrete cylinders during pours on job sites. Once they have set overnight, we have to pick them up and move them to the lab for curing and testing. This means a lot of repetitive motion… properly picking up a concrete cylinder that weighs about 30 pounds is not a big deal. Now, factor in that it is approximately 50 cylinders, and that you have to carry each one over uneven ground on a job site and place them in a special rack in the back of a pickup truck. There is a lot of bending and twisting and moving and using your back muscles to stabilize your core when you are moving these cylinders. Normally, it would mean for tired muscles and a dull ache at the end of the day, even with company mandated stretching prior to beginning work. With his support I did not feel the ache even though I had moved a couple of thousand pounds of concrete by day’s end. The belt did not budge once I had it installed correctly, and it has held up well so far. I use it almost daily, and after I have an opportunity to use it more, I will add further information to my review.

It scratches with the lower part or tips of the support era. It’s not good knowing there are others that won’t do that. Also I paid extra money to get something better. But it was not the case.

I have severe arthritis in my back. I’m 68 years old. This brace allows me to be up and about and active much longer. My pain is greatly reduced when I wear this brace.

I have several herniated discs which have scarred over (aka “healed”) to the point where I’m not in abject pain 24×7. However my outdoor activities and chores had to be limited else the risk of a renewed herniation. With this belt I am able to do normal outdoor chores (raking, vacuum the pool, cutting the lawn) with less risk of being in major pain by the end of the day. This is NOT a medical device however it is far better support for my spine than other elastic-Velcro belts and buckle belts I’ve tried. Most valued tool in my collection.
