Wear this soft cuffed beanie alone or open the back zippered compartment to add the 8945 Universal Bump Cap Insert (included) for work in cramped spaces. Made with 100% soft dry acrylic and 40-gram 3M flex stretch insulation for a warm, comfortable fit. Included with the ribbed knit beanie is a Skullerz® 8945 Universal Bump Cap Insert. This impact-resistant shell is made of lightweight durable polypropylene and is designed with maximum ventilation for breathable airflow that doesn’t compromise protection. An interior foam pad reduces impact but does not absorb odors for fresh all-day wear. Bump caps are typically worn in spaces where worker-generated impact head protection is needed, like low ceilings, beams, low pipes and other bump hazards.

The cap by itself, without the bump cap insert, is a great knit hat. Comfortable and VERY warm. It’s not what you want for a COOL day. You want it for a COLD day! The cap with the insert presents a balance of frustrations and benefits. The bump cap is designed to sit on a certain portion of your head. I like to wear my hats more to the rear, so I can pull the extra down onto my neck to keep it warm. Getting the two pieces positioned just right, as they are not snugly fit to each other, to allow the hat to be where I want and the bump camp to be where it needs to be, is a little tricky. However, that being said, once everything is where it goes, the hat is comfortable and stays put. I can easily wear it throughout the day without complaint. The bump cap is designed to flex and fit a variety of noggin shapes, and even manages to fit my large melon. I wish I had had something like this when I spent more time crawling in attics and crawlspaces, thumping my head on joists and rafters. It would have been a lifesaver.
